Volunteering opportunities with Home-Start Flintshire

We know that not everybody feels able to go into Home-visiting volunteering roles. At Home-Start Flintshire we have tried to break down barriers to volunteering by introducing a variety of different volunteering opportunities, both family facing and back office roles. If you would like any further information please send us a message through our contact us page.

Home Visiting Volunteer

Home Visiting Volunteers work owards increased confidence and the independence of the family by:

  • Visiting families in their homes, where the dignity of the individual is respected.
  • Encouraging parents’ strengths and emotional well-being for the benefit of the children.

Phone Support Volunteer

Telephone Support Volunteers work towards the increased confidence and independence of the family by:

  • Developing a relationship with the family in which time can be shared and an understanding developed.
  • Encouraging families to widen their network of relationships and to use effectively the support and services available in the community.

Group Volunteer

Our group volunteers help support at our stay and play sessions in many ways. They help with the planning of activities, help to set up and tidy away and support at each session to ensure the children get the most out of each activity and offer support to any parents who may need it.

Home-Start Helper

A Home-Start helper is a volunteer that helps out with tasks such as putting together activity packs, wrapping Christmas gifts, folding leaflets.

They don’t provide family support but are invaluable with other tasks that may be required.

Marketing and Media Volunteer

Marketing and media volunteers can offer their expertise and knowledge to help us adapt our website or social media for example and promote who we are and what we do in the most productive way.

Administration Volunteer

Our administration volunteers come in and help with office jobs such as leaflets and photocopying. It is a wonderful role to build confidence and experience in different areas.

Join us as a Trustee to help shape the future of our work with families

Our Trustees provide essential leadership, guidance and governance from their own professional or lived experiences. They also play an important role as ambassadors for our work and can offer particular skills to the organisation (like human resources, information management or finance, for example). We welcome interest from those who can be passionate about our work with parents, children, families and the community.

Importantly, the Board of Trustees should reflect the communities in which we work. We already benefit from a variety of skills, experiences and backgrounds and now need to add to that dynamic and creative team.

The minimum commitment as a Trustee is a few hours each month, to attend meetings or to engage in Board discussions via email and online forums. Further opportunities to get involved are possible too, so we can be flexible to suit individual motivations to volunteer.

If you are interested in finding out more about the opportunity to join us, please contact us to arrange an informal chat.
